In their previous house Brian and Eve had a small goldfish pond, and by the time they moved to this house they had started to seriously get interested in koi-keeping.
The pond is a large rectangular shape and is six feet deep. There are two bottom drains, and these are fed into the vortex chamber via two inlets.
It is constructed of 18 x 9 x 4 ins concrete blocks laid on their side, and the pond is two feet above the ground. The blocks were then rendered and fibreglassed.
The 4 bay filters are made from concrete blocks and these were also rendered and fibreglassed. A fibreglass weir was fitted between each bay. The filer and the vortex chamber hold a total of 1200 gallons.
