Steve's pond

View of the pond

Pond now taking shape this was now October 2005 two months on and I had built this so far all on my own, except the initial dig and concrete laying. I was feeling rather pleased with myself but very tired as every waking hour day and night under floodlight as well was spent on getting it finished.

The pergola has been started I wanted some shelter over the pond to keep the sun off I had read that the sun makes the water green or something I was not sure what that meant at the time so I decided to cut timber and build a cover to keep the sun off. This was taken on November 5th firework night.

The carpet is in place 1 inch foam was fitted first then carpet was laid over the top ready for the rubber liner.

The liner is in place
Another view of the liner
Rubber liner was placed in, this was very hard for me as it was so heavy so my children helped me get it from my garage and drag it into the pond. This was now mid November and it was starting to get quite cold out side.

Cables were pulled through the ducting under ground and were fitted to a small trip switch panel and an RCD was put in the circuit in the workshop.

This website started with a booklet which I made up originally for the help of those members of the BKKS - South Wales Section who were intending to start building a koi pond, and as the website has expanded more information and articles from other people have been included. This is for general guidance only, and we do not take any responsibility for problems that might occur by following these ideas. It is important that you check out everything in your area, and check on local laws and rules that may apply.
