Pond descriptions

Tony & Sharon's pond

The current pond was started in October 2004 and the main build completed in April 2005, but work it still ongoing regarding the final cosmetic details.

The hole is dug
The pond is built

The pond is brick built using nine inch hollow blocks, filled with steel rods and concrete, and it has a nine inch base. The corners were rounded off and the whole pond was rendered and fibreglassed in black.

The grass has been laid
The waterfall after construction
The vegtable filter and waterfall can be seen in these photos, and the grass has been sown from seed. This is the cheaper way when you are on a budget.

These photos show the pond just after completion, and it holds 3,375 gallons.

This website started with a booklet which I made up originally for the help of those members of the BKKS - South Wales Section who were intending to start building a koi pond, and as the website has expanded more information and articles from other people have been included. This is for general guidance only, and we do not take any responsibility for problems that might occur by following these ideas. It is important that you check out everything in your area, and check on local laws and rules that may apply.
