All the pipework is now in place, and the system is ready. The main pump is a Badu 8 which was used to ensure there was sufficient pressure to fully backwash the sand filter.
The output is too much for the Nexus but a flowmeter has been fitted so that the correct turnover rate is achieved. The flow is controlled by ballvalves. The skimmer is returned to deep water.
In the photo on the right everything is complete and general clearing up of the garden is taking place. The filter housing has been covered with wood.
A few months later the grass has been laid, the garden is taking shape, and the pond fits in well with this.
This website started with a
booklet which I made up originally for the help of those members of the BKKS
- South Wales Section who were intending to start building a koi pond, and as the website has expanded more information and articles from other people have been included. This
is for general guidance only, and we do not take any responsibility for problems
that might occur by following these ideas. It is important
that you check out everything in your area, and check on local laws and rules
that may apply.
