Pond descriptions

Andrew & Rosemary's pond

The walls being built up The walls are completed
After the initial three layers of blocks the next rows were laid on their side to give a nine inch wall, except the front wall which was left at 4 inches as facing bricks were to be added.
The blockwork from the outside The pergola has been started
The blockwork for the pond has now been completed and the pipework, skimmer, etc, has been included. Work has also started on the wooden pergola. The advantage of doing this early is that a plastic tarpaulin can be put over to keep the pond dry for rendering etc.
The walls have been rendered The fibreglassing has been completed
The internal walls have been rendered and it can be seen that the pond is six feet deep. The pond was fibreglassed in black. In the photo on the right you can see the skimmer, and the pipes for the venturi and the deep water return.

This website started with a booklet which I made up originally for the help of those members of the BKKS - South Wales Section who were intending to start building a koi pond, and as the website has expanded more information and articles from other people have been included. This is for general guidance only, and we do not take any responsibility for problems that might occur by following these ideas. It is important that you check out everything in your area, and check on local laws and rules that may apply.
