Bob has
kept cold water fish for many years, and had a concrete pond
in his back garden. A few years ago he became very interested
in koi, and decided to build a large purpose built pond at
the side of the house.
He then decided to covert the existing pond to a quarantine pond complete with
heater and a full filter system.

The window on the inside wall is part of Bob's workshop, and
it is here that the filter system, heater, pumps, UV lamp, etc,
are situated. For photos of the filter click here

UPDATE 2004. This
pond is still fully operational and is being used as a quarantine
pond as Bob has now completed his large pond.
This website started with a
booklet which I made up originally for the help of those members of the BKKS
- South Wales Section who were intending to start building a koi pond, and as the website has expanded more information and articles from other people have been included. This
is for general guidance only, and we do not take any responsibility for problems
that might occur by following these ideas. It is important
that you check out everything in your area, and check on local laws and rules
that may apply.
