Changing to a Nexus unit - page 4.

Everything is now ready and the Nexus filter has been removed from it's temporary position and placed down on the base that was built for it.

NOTE. that a cover has been put in place on top of the Nexus filter. This was purchased as an extra, and is not supplied with the standard model.

This photo shows the completed pipework.
The 110mm pipe in the centre is the inlet from the bottom drain.
Below that is the two drains from the Nexus unit to the drains box.
The other pipe is the discharge from the Nexus unit to the main pump which is in the right hand corner. After the pump it goes through the UV unit and the heat exchanger before returning to the pond via a venturi.

Thes work is completed and the unit is being filled with pond water.
The Kaldnes K1 can be seen in the outer chamber.

The photo on the right shows the unit filled up and ready to start the pumps. The airline has not yet been connected. The photo on the right shows the unit with the cover fitted, and this is the way it will be used as there is no housing over the filter.

Everything is back on line and the fish are swimming in their new enviroment.

This photo was taken a few weeks later and now The Answer has been fitted.
The sponge pre-filter was working very well and the water was very clear, but it became necessary to clean the sponge every day.
The Answer only needs cleaning about every 10/14 days so has a big advantage.
The water is not quite so crystal clear, and to achieve that it may be necessary to add another bio filter or probably a sand filter to polish the water.

This website started with a booklet which I made up originally for the help of those members of the BKKS - South Wales Section who were intending to start building a koi pond, and as the website has expanded more information and articles from other people have been included. This is for general guidance only, and we do not take any responsibility for problems that might occur by following these ideas. It is important that you check out everything in your area, and check on local laws and rules that may apply.
