Pond descriptions

Eric & Denise's pond

The oond is still looking good. The filter covers have rotted, but they have been there for 11 years. Eric hopes to replace them this year.

He had a near miss this winter when the electrics cut out. Earth trips are fitted on the house and pond. Last summer one of the pond feed pumps (Grundfos) gave up the ghost after at least eight years continuious running. Eric hung a spare punp by a string in the filters, but did not realise the weight of the pump was mainly on the cable.
After months the cable outer rubber stretched and failed and water got in but the earth trip saved the fish. The system is now running with a second hand pump.

This website started with a booklet which I made up originally for the help of those members of the BKKS - South Wales Section who were intending to start building a koi pond, and as the website has expanded more information and articles from other people have been included. This is for general guidance only, and we do not take any responsibility for problems that might occur by following these ideas. It is important that you check out everything in your area, and check on local laws and rules that may apply.
