The benching of the base has been completed.
In most cases this is done after the walls are built as it is easier to stand
on a level surface.
The walls have now been built up
and are almost completed.
Because a butyl liner is being used then the walls have been
lined with polystyrene sheeting one inch thick. This helps to contain
the heat in the water, and is also a soft cushion if the fish bump
against it.
It will be noted that the corners have been filled in so that they
are rectangular in shape.
The six inch thick base has been laid for the filters. Two inch
diameter pipework is laid in place as a drain for each bay.
The filters have been rendered internally. The connection between
each bay is two 4" diameter pipes, but the bends and the downpipes
are yet to be fitted.
The pond is ready for the lining to be fitted, and then the coping
stones will be fitted, and the outside of the pond and filters
were rendered.
The pond is now ready to receive the liner, and the filter chambers
have been rendered.
This website started with a
booklet which I made up originally for the help of those members of the BKKS
- South Wales Section who were intending to start building a koi pond, and as the website has expanded more information and articles from other people have been included. This
is for general guidance only, and we do not take any responsibility for problems
that might occur by following these ideas. It is important
that you check out everything in your area, and check on local laws and rules
that may apply.
